200 tdi in a defender sits further back from rad than in a disco ,300 tdi the same

Yeah that's why I thought a standard disco or fender setup wouldn't fit properly

what is it? a disco 200 conversion?

Yup

SPCK224C 200 Tdi Discovery > 90/110 Intercooler Kit has a kit made up, or i think you'll need to buy generic silicone hoses from say ebay and knock your own up.

you can buy bends and stuff. see if you can reuse the metal pipes.

Yeah I saw that but it ain't cheap! Might see what I can do with some silicone hose but it would be a hell of lot easier if I could buy the whole hoses

Oi bitch tits, do it this way.

Flexi metal pipe then buy silicone in the right bore and maybe just an off cut long enough to make a couple of mating pieces. The metal pipe wont expand under boost

it mightn't even be your hoses...

cheapest option is to take the bonnet off and get a mate to hold on and see if the pipes leak when you give it some boost down the road :D

or a boost gauge would be more fun

After taping it up and replacing the jubilees there is a very noticeable improvement. Still hear the turbo at higher revs but it's no longer lacking power. Will treat this as a temp fix and source some decent silicone hoses. Ta muchly for advice

funnily, mine just started surging yesterday (300tdi). if you hold the revs steady when driving they go up and down and i have a lack of power.

i'm thinking split hose, intercooler, etc. will check this weekend.

wolf as well as the split hoses, check the hose running to the fuel pump from the turbo. just wondering if your turbo pressure is ok, but the fuelling (works via pressure) isn't getting enriched at higher revs.

i'm buying a boost gauge next ;)
Since taping the top pipe it had seemed to get better but then it went back to boosting but giving no extra power. Ive replaced the top pipe completely and its still doing it. Reference what trax said, is that relevant for a 300 only or is my 200 turbo the same? Could this be the cause of my problem? Just to reiterate, under acceleration the turbo spools up and can be heard but there is no boost or power whatsoever

be the same

check for more splits including intercooler.

also check your wastegate isn't seized part open.

if you think the air side is all hunky and it's giving 16psi /1barish

then check the hose from the turbo that goes behind to the pump.. make sure it isn't leaking air as that's what gives it more fuel under boost.

Doc Evil has a boost gauge for me so ill get that plumbed in at some point to keep an eye on it. I'll check the wastegate and the and the hose at the back tomorrow. Cheers
