Hi. Could some one help just fitted a turbo boost gauge and I'm over boosting hitting over 20psi. Do I turn the nut in or out to turn it down. Been to 12 threads showing and then back to 7 threads and both are still going over 20 which is the limit on my gauge. Thanks for any replies

Just thought about it. I have a dastek unichip on this motor will that make it boost at a higher level. I know I'm a bit late coming back with this info. Sorry :(

no, that just chucks more fuel in, do you have a boost box fitted to fool the ecu into allowing the car to run with extra boost

All sorted. Waste gate was stuck solid. Bit of wd40 a few whacks with a screw driver and hammer and some high temp grease worked the little bugger free. It drove like a new car must have been like it for about a year. Also cured an annoying whistle. Thanks peeps

Thats a common problem and glad its sorted. Make sure you set the max boost properly or you'll start to burn out your exhaust valves. What engine are we talking about?

It's a td5. On the journey home I had boost of 14 psi. I think it should be 18 or so. Thank you again I found the love for driving again today :)

Standard TD5 boost is 1bar or about 14.5037738  psi. Much more and the ECU will log an overboost fault and switch to limp mode to protect the engine until you recycle the ignition. Also worth removing and carefully cleaning the MAP sensor in the inlet manifold which can help smooth running.

This morning it was chucking out some black. I'm thinking this is just clearing out after it hasn't worked for a year.

Black smoke is over fuelling. It will be your plug in chip thats the culprit. No plug in doofa will be as good as a custom fuel map. I'd try running without it to make sure that everything is good.

If so you then need to look at adjusting the boost to take account of the extra fuel but you will need a black box to fool the ECU into accepting higher boost levels.
