Turbo Over boost code

I was driving on the motorway and she lost power, there was no turbo whine and it went into limp mode. I pulled over and brought up the code "Over boost". I recycled the ignition and the turbo started working again. this happened twice more on my way home. It only happened when it was in 6th gear and above 70mph.
i don't know what is causing this maybe it could be the VGT actuator or the MAP. Has anyone else had this problem and how do i solve it. (trip was about 230 miles round trip, first cut out was about 80 miles in)

Yes had that but mine was under boost. First time was a split hose between the turbo and intercooler. Second time it was a split between the plastic intercooler inlet box and the alloy core. You have to look very closely for the second one, taking the front grill and cooling fan cowl out (both 5 minute jobs) and go all round the inlet and outlet box seams. These are known Tdci problems, fixed by replacing any damaged parts. First off I changed the MAF sensor but the problem didn't go away as that was not the fault.
What fault code number have you got? and is it the 2.2 or 2.4 engine?

Its a 2.4 ive checked all the tubing and didnt see any cracks or splits. i cant remember the fault code as it was wiped after we had it checked but am planning on getting a scanner myself.

If you can get the codes I have the lists so should be able to track the fault down.

i have read that you can disconnect the maf sensor on a disco to test if the turbo and egr is working properly. as the disco uses a conventional turbo, would it be ok to do the same with the vgt turbo in the puma.

As I posted previously, get the fault codes. Otherwise you will be pi55ing in the dark.

Eventually found the problem. The maf sensor was throwing all sorts of random values. thanks for your help.
