I'm planning on fitting a 200TDi from a disco to my series 3 109, my plan to get around the turbo mounting issue is to get an adapter made up like someone else has before to bend the turbo out enough to clear the chassis rail, sourcing defender manifolds seems like trying to find expensive rocking horse ****.....

The only thing worrying me at the moment is the oil feed/return pipework, I'm assuming the standard ones will be no good and probably solid pipe rather than flexible. I've looked up alot of generic stuff online that's mentioned using brake pipe, flexible braided hose, radiator hoses etc....just unsure on the best way to do it? Rad hose seems too pikey even for me :D

Also does anyone know the internal diameter and fitting sizes each end?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Do you not have the original pipes?
If you do use both ends and go to a hydraulic hose place and get them to the work recommend braded stainless flexing hose they will give advice on what they can do and the best place to cut it. Then you go back and fit unions and measure distance between them.
Go back and they will make to measure.

Plan 2 trailer the truck there and get them to cut fit route and assemble job done.

Depending on the work needed budget 200 quid as will cost a few pence.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that, helpful yes, if it does work out costing about that then I'll have to bite the bullet and hold out for Defender manifolds....

If it was going to be as cheap as flaring a bit of brake pipe type stuff and throwing some unions on the end then alls good, I've even seen what claims to be suitable braided stuff on eBay for a decent price, but without knowing much about turbos (im used to playing with 2-pot Lister static diesels and Ford petrol engines!) I don't want to end up killing something......
