Turbo Noise

I've got a standard 300tdi - well apart from the metal and silicone hoses and and a bigger intercooler. It runs fine and pulls well. Only problem is that the turbo is pretty noisy, especially under hard acceleration and when cruising at motorway speed. The plus point is that it so loud I can't hear my wife complaining in the passenger seat or the kids fighting in the back!!! Question is - should I be thinking about changing the turbo or is this fairly normal????

id say normal....my tdi runs like a screaming bitch too

Sounds like it's working perfectly to me

Check for boost leaks on all of your intercooler pipes and connections, as this can make a loud whistling noise. You could also put more sound proofing on the bulkhead or in the footwells to try and quieten it; without the carpets and soundproofing, the turbo is much much more audible in my 110.
