Has anyone fitted a Turbo Delay Run Timer ? I've fitted one to my Disco not to cool the turbo but to enable the engine to run on after I've switched from veg oil to diesel ready for start-up the next day.

Ok my question is has anyone fitted a delay timer and how can you get the keyfob to lock the doors whilst the engine is running after leaving it ?

Does anyone know which wire is the ignition live to the alarm module? as I was thinking of fitting a switch so as to fool the alarm unit that the ignition is off ??

I take it you want to turn the key off but leave the supply onto the fuel solenoid vis a delay timer thus allowing it to run the veg oil out and the diesel in. A standard turbo timer will do that and its a straightforward install - if its a D1 not sure about all the electronics in TD5s. I wanted to keep mine running for a short time to charge up the battery and left the keys in the ignition and used the second set to lock the doors and alarm it and it worked leaving the car secure and locked but engine running.

why not just switch back to diesel during the last few hundreds meters of your trip ? - that would achieve the same effect without over complacating things

the installation of some sort of run on timer would be a bit fraught in my view, what happens if something fails and it doesnt turn off - engineering a failsafe mode is likely to take a bit more thinking about - shirly it's easier to educate your missis a bit, and to be honest if you do forget to switch over it just means it'll tickover a bit lumpy when it's cold, oh and it's test ya plugs fer ya
