Not sure what gunk comes out of a forklift, but lpg burns very clean. Perhaps it's residue from additives some engines need for lubrication, the rv8 will happily run on neat lpg
I've never ran LPG so I can't really comment on it.
For a V8 I don't thinks it that bad on fuel , well it's better than my dads l322 4.4 petrol ,fuel gauge moves more than the bloody rev counter.

Didn't know that LPG was still obtainable, can't remember the last time I passed a garage that sold it.
OK in cylinders & better suited to rural gas boilers & fork-lifts ;)

Thought I'd save money by having my 3.9 RRC converted to gas back in the early 'noughties .. bad mistake.
E5 for my 3.5efi plus it likes the higher octane.

What can I say , they are addictive to drive.

Just to rub salt in the wounds , I have no lights on the dashboard. ( And no I haven't removed the bulbs)
Have you checked that you have not nudged the the dash dimming button, you would not be the first to have done it and stipped bits apart before finding out.
