Tuning a 4.4 TDV8

HI guys quick question been looking into remapping my new beast when it comes next thursday, has anyone experiance of this if soo does anyone think its good or bad??

Just my tuppence, but you'll want to make sure that the drive-train is in good condition before you start asking more from the engine.

Yeah going to have it checked out totally before I go for it.

Well I think you know what I am going to say

Not needed or buy the petrol head version and get the SC. You won’t go round corners any quicker you just might get there a little quicker or too quick

Also don’t be sucked in by the “mappers” claims on the better figures. Lots of research needed.

But at the end of the day it’s yours to do as you want

I know it doesnt need it but its weather I want it and tbf not fussed on better fuel I have accepted that bit.

Not good, not bad, just plain stupid. It has more than enough power for a heavy 4 x 4 as standard. If you want to play tuning, go get a car.

Sense comes at all ages, some it misses altogether.

Is it coming with a warranty?...if it is I wouldn't do anything to it until it's ended you might need it...

I always like the statement from remapping companies ,” ur save at least 10% MPG “

Regardless of them putting more fuel into the engine, lol

Must admit with these large engines I would assume it’s not needed , also wonder by putting more fuel in if it wears the injectors out quicker, along with i assume putting the engine under increased strain

Know JLR must spend millions developing an engine , suitability to design it for the weight of the vehicle etc

Was tempted with my TDV6 but the more I looked into it the more I was put off, as must admit giving the D3 a good boot it’s no slouch so imagine the 4.4 goes like stink

Plus couldn’t warrant the kind of money some remapping companies charge

But at the end of the day I’m not a mechanic so don’t have the expertise with the full ins and outs or remapping

Im sure the big car makers see it that way too with the 1000bhp Jeep, RR SVRs, V8 Twin Turbo G Wagons, Urus.....

Some of you guys give the new ones such a bad rap it’s a great vehicle in standard form.

When we got ours it still had some LR warranty left, we used it twice. One was a for a rattle in the wing mirror and the other was for the stupid anti petrol flap in the fuel filler. (Got to be pretty good with the little yellow stick thing)

Other than normal stuff, only had to do some bushes and arms up front and a prop CV. So we don’t find it an expensive car to maintain (have I just jinxed it)

As for the remap well my comment is up there ^^^^^somewhere. The OP would do better to leave his RR alone and play with the BMW he has, if it’s a car type model. IMHO

A 1000bhp Jeep must be great for sitting in a traffic jam on the M25, fecking madness.

Since the M25 rarely moves at more than 25mph, that is unlikely.
Politicians are busy condemning ordinary fuel efficient cars on the grounds of pollution and yet they allow these highly polluting monsters to continue to be made. Utter madness.

Throwing my hat in the ring, I'm in the leave it alone camp. Look after what is already there, treat her like a princess and you will get everything she was built for: a luxury, almost 3 tonne , 4x4. She is not a car, anf most certainly not a ' need for speed' vehicle.
It is like falling in love and then wanting them to change. Love her for what she is.

Opposite. Get it mapped and enjoy the near ridiculous power of a 3 tonne luxury 4x4.

Alive do some great work. Was ready about a fella who even went for larger injectors and a bigger map to suit.

Have fun with it but as mentiones check the driveline is good as I think a new gearbox is close to £6k
