HI folks

May I ask you if there would be any issue if I removed the tub top hats in order to clean up in the rebuild process, and then replace them with solid rivets?

I can't see any issue using solid rivets.
The normal is pulled mandrel/blind types, the body is alluminium and the mandrel steel. These are likely to be the easiest to install and are the type I use on pretty much everything.
They only need a one-sided tool to install.
I have used blind stainless before but I don't think they offer any advantage on a Landrover as you run the risk of bi-metallic corrosion.

Why do you want to use solid riverts ?

Thanks.

Because they are fixed with aw type of solid rivet. By looking at the head of the rivet inside the tub I can see the solid rivet head, besides, I have an air rivet gun and the snap set, as well.
Standard rivet are used along the top of the bracket, where the bracket goes over the top hats.
