Trying To Track My Defender’s History

Hi all,

My defender is ex fire service but I can’t find where it wasn’t stationed. Any help? Reg is YG02NBA

Take a look at the MOT history of your vehicle on the Gov website on there it will give you at which test centre it was tested you will need your log sheet as it asks for some information before releasing the information. Now I am making an assumption that the test centre will be local to the station the vehicle was based.
Good luck
Tim

Dont think govt vehicle need moting?
As for history, see if you can find a hgv mechs page on facebook, and ask if anyone recognises the car?

Our emergency services workshops do their own MoTs for vehicles that aren’t exempt from being MoT’d. Maybe the MoT history will show where it was done?

Have you google’d the registration number or tried speculatively calling the variousfire services local to where the registration number suggests it was first registered? Or tried Land Rover?

Love the mileage in 2008, and the fails then retest and fail on more stuff in 2013
If that was prepped and presented by the fire service mechs, they want their arses
kicking!
Having looked again at MOT history first MOT was in 2006. 3 years from first registration would be 2005. You say GOV vehicles don't require an Mot, I think this was with the fire service for 4 years and had its first MOT after 4 years from first registration, for sale to private ownership.
It has had 5 previous owners from the current owner. We may need to stand down the arse kicking team pending further investigation.
Johnblackers who asked the question has not returned to the site yet from asking the question if he does he may be able to fill some gaps for us to help more.

I think you will find I quesitoned if they needed an mot, I know for example the vans that ferry the prisoners about did not used to have an annual test

4 years seems a very short time for a specialist vehicle to be with the fire service? especially as they must have a higher initial cost than say a police car/van.

Had a look at the MOT history but unfortunately it doesn’t list where they were done. Got some bizarre mileages on there at points as well

Unfortunately the MOT history doesn’t allude to much. I rang Land Rover who said it was sold from Lloyd’s in Ripon, Yorkshire but wouldn’t tell me who it was sold to due to the data protection act. Rang Lloyd’s and got the same answer there.

I did ring the North Yorkshire fire service transport department but they had no record as their list didn’t go back that far. They said they’d look into it but I never heard anything back

Sorry for the late replying.

So here’s the story which may help. When I bought the vehicle, I was told it was ex fire service which got my thinking and researching. First I wanted to prove it was indeed what it was said to be. Although I’m unable to find what fire station it belong to, it is quite clear that it lived a former fire service life. This is due to a number of factors including fittings in the roof for beacons and radios which match up with other fire service land rovers, when I rang the special vehicles department and I was told it was painted Rutland red and had a truckman fitted. There is various other bits around the truck that shows it’s had stuff on it including the lack of radio

Maybe it was written off.
