trying to bring the EAS back from the dead (coil Springs!!)

Hi lads.

bought a DSE 1997 as a spare range rover, and its on coils. all the valve block and compressor are gone but i have a spare from a doner vehicle plugged them in and i am getting readings from them with the RSW software but the function buttons dont work? meaning when i manually turn on the compressor it works but not all do any of the self inflicted faults dont pop up on the dash.

when you put the keys in the ignition it says "EAS MANUAL"

Any ideas lads?

I expect you wil find that the ecu has a jumper across some of the pins to fool it.

i checked the ECU, removed the harness and looked across it nothing, and reconnected it. nothing. anything else?

It's been modded somehow to stop the error messages coming up.

well i sold my V8 and bought this. bought a doner for my Daily P38 as the head was cracked and have 2 others for breaking so in total 5 P38's plus or minus a few engines and gearboxes!!! lol



i think it looks terrible on springs!! i also removed the roof rack as soon as i got home......lol if anyone wants to buy the springs off me let me know....!

so i started up the rangie after doing the work and the fault has gone but now there are still no lights on the EAS switches to "select height etc. however the pump is kicking in nicely!!! had to go to work so not sure what else its doing but will check it out when i get home.

read the 5th line in the description. it seems that there is a device sold in the coil pack that inhibits faults etc on the dash. where is this located anyone know??

Yep on the BeCM, bottom left if I remember and the switch on the dash should just be unplugged from the back.

might be needing this info if my coils fail the MOT

No reason why your coils will fail the MOT unless they are shagged, already cleared this one up with VOSA.

If the vehicle is sat on springs the sensor readings will be higher than that stored in the ECU. That is why you are getting the faults. The ECU will be trying to drop the suspension to make the sensor reading match what is stored in the ECU. It cannot do that so after trying for a period of time it throws out fault codes. You will make no more sense out of it until you fit some air bags. You could try taking a note of the ECU settings as they are then reading the actuals and writing those to the ECU. Then you should be able to remove faults and none should re-appear.
