Truck about to die

My ldv400 pickup is on its last legs (smashin') and I would like to replace it with a Discovery commercial circa 1998. I would appreciate any advice/ tips on buying a good one!! It's gonna do quite a bit of towing and some gentle off road work, looking to spend around £4500. I enjoy car mechanics but as a work vehicle it needs to be reliable.

them ldvs are a bit rubbish arnt they i drive one for work but my toy is a disco 300tdi had a couple of oil leaks with mine not too expensive sunfoofs do leak aswell

I got stuck in a rut once, I was spotting for my mate and neglected to tell him about this big trench, oops. well two tow chains an Isusu and a tractor later we got the disco out. We had borrowed it; his mother was less than impressed! Good fun though.

Het Mattb I will look out for leaky roof seals. Oil leaks would be bad for me as I park on clients drives. Just as a by the by I measured the dB level at 60 mph in my ldv today it was 103 dB. ouch. need a disco.

welcome big rich. i would go down the 110 defender route..... well, i would cos i love mine. understand the oil leak problem but i hate to say this, if it didn't drop oil it just wouldn't be a landy!

Hello Little Nay, I always always wanted a defender but I grew and grew nad now I am too big for them.
