Hello,

I've recently replaced the rear brake calipers, rebuilt the front ones, replaced any corroded brake pipes and also replaced the master cylinder.
I've bled the whole system through with an eezibleed and bled the master cylinder. However, my brake pedal still has a massive amount of travel in it before it engages the brakes. It also seems to have a bit of free play at the start of the pedal where it doesn't even feel like its doing anything.
Its really bugging me now as I have taken the wheels off and bled it through 4 times!
Any suggestions?

Thanks
James

check pads in rear calipers for been loose ,some times new calipers have pistons that return too far so some of pedal is lost in piston travel before it actually brakes , did any caliper take more bleeding than others ,or difference front and back

Forgot to add that I put new EBC pads all round. Yeah I think some of the pads are a little bit loose but on the ones that I rebuilt. Is there a way of getting them back out again?

ive had to retif new seals before to cure pistons returning ,but if theres no air in system and reservoir has no splashing when pedals pumped , the end of rod in servo that m/c acts on is adjustable but you need to be carefull as it isnt held in to servo very securely, winding screw out will reduce pedal travel ,winding in increase it ,too far out and brakes will apply themselves on a run ,too far in and pedal will feel like yours

Ok thanks, I've just checked and the brake pads on the front two calipers are loose but the rear ones aren't. I'll try winding the pushrod out a bit and see what happens.
Thanks

Eureka! Thank you James, I found the push rod was wound in completely so I undid it about 2 turns and its made a massive difference! Makes the whole effort of rebuilding the calipers seem worth it.

Inspired by this I've gone outside and done the same thing to mine. The braking action is now much nearer the top of the pedal travel and it feels much sharper.
