If you had a choice between a IIa or a III Which would you choose.

I've just lost my series III 88 and want another short wheelbase to replace it
but I can't decide between a IIa or a III.
It'll be used mainly off road in the fields and woods (very hilly here)
I like the LT85 that goes with series III out here, it's much easier
than wots all them levers, but I love them red an yellow knobs too.

I've got two 109s so that's not a choice, bloody decisions.

Tomorrow morning I'm off to see a 1985 series III 88 2.5 turbo 5 speed (santana) 1200quid
with tax and mot. bound to be a beasty.

Just a fair warning, my experience down here with the Santana's is that the Land Rover parts may or may not fit. The early 80's ones like mine (1980) still use Land Rover parts but the ones after 1983ish are a crap shoot.

Spain also doesn't really deal in classic vehicle parts so you might have a challenge ahead of you if and when you need parts.

I went to see it this morning, it's not the turbo model it's the 2.5 N/A
No rust on the chassis, steering all good and the motor was as sweet as a nut, the body had the normal dings but was sound in all the right places
I got the guy down to 1400€ and replace the clutch master cylinder.
He in turn charged me 120€ for changing the name, but the ITV is at my expense.
It's going to be deliverd Friday afternoon. And in the spring it'll be torn down and resprayed cream or light green,(who the hell would paint a landy white aarg)

How do you find Southern Spain, to me they talk funny bit like the northerners back home

Here's a link to the add for the Landy

I have enjoyed my time here but it is time to go. I have a hard time adjusting to the "manana" aspect of it. These folks down here aren't in a hurry unless they are getting off work or driving. The lisp makes deciphering words a challenge also. Over all though it isn't bad. I get 98% of my parts out of the UK though. Even being shipped here it is usually cheaper than ordering in Spain.

i'd pick 2a

I actually have a 2a along with the 109's but it's been standing for about 12
years. I nicked it's front axle and diesel pump to repair another and just never got round to replacing them. I went for the Series III mainly for the heater
I live in the Pre-Pyrenees Northern Spain so as you can imagine it can get very chilly
