I believe that when fitting a 200tdi engine and boxes from a Disco into a Defender then the engine will be further forward due to the bellhousing being a little longer. I am hearing that the fan blades will foul the steering box and an electric fan will have to be fitted.
Now the engine is not fitted up propperly yet but it looks like the fan will be hitting the steering box but not by much....can you see where I'm going with this?
If we were to trim half an inch from each blade then this would I think cure the problem, but has any one ever done it?
I have trimmed fans in the past on Minis to try and reduce the power loss of a sixteen blade fan spinning all the time, it did work to a point and the engine didn't overheat so can it be done on the 90...?:)

Don't use the disco gearbox and you won't have these problems.
Not a problem, just a decision whether to trim fan or go electric, trimming cheaper.
Also, the Disco unit is in very good order and now commited to using it. We knew the mountings would have to be moved so prepared for that, Other things that have to be altered are a challenge to be enjoyed, not as many as we thought though, oil cooler pipes fit and 90 fan cowling is a distinct possibility so all looking good.
