Well there you go cynics. The petition got 1.7 million signatures and has had an impact on the decision thus far. You cant really say that it was pointless. Although some of you will just to argue.

yes, quite successful i guess, however the government have said that pay as you go road pricing WILL happen at some time.

also to clarify a point, i read in the Times, yes Slob i can read, that this tax was to run along side the current road fund and fuel duty. this means another taxation for the working man/women. the Royal Borough Of richmond upon thames will be charging residents who drive 4x4 cars upto £900 for a parking permit that entitles them to park on their own road IF there is a space. yet another tax. i wonder if this will include the 4 wheel drive Porches, or Subaru or even jaguar?
