Transmission problem

I have 2004 90 defender TD. This is my bucket list project that is turning into a nightmare. Recently driving a sudden clank and all transmission gone in all gears. Got towed home about a mile in neutral there was a click click in time with speed, more clicks as speed increased.
Now confession time for a few months previous the handbrake cable snapped and l had left the LR in gear to act as a brake when parked. Ok l am a plonker so no grief please.
Any guidance/advice appreciate. Thanks

tottot many thanks for your reply. l have tried engaging diff, diff light confirms engagement but no movement of vechile .

Could be centre out of the clutch or shaft splines on gearbox stripped

I'd guess clutch ....
