When I change gear there is a knock coming from the rear of the landy so I got my dad to watch as I pulled away and he said the prop shaft turns the diff about an eigth of a turn before the wheels start to turn the prop and the universal joints are all ok any ideas what I need to do to fix this
Cheers

Cheers for the video looks like I got a big job to check it and Is there anything else it could be to check while I have it apart but could it be the half shafts in the rear Axel

Chris on LRTV (the channel dieseldog69 linked), is the messiah of well explained walk-throughs for investigation into such things, he definitely has a video explaining how to check the lash in transmission components in the basic maintenance section, well worth a watch. Only bad bit is you'll rapidly realize most of your landy is probably "U.S" as chris would say

Presume you've checked the rear prop donut, if you have one? First item to fail at the back to generate a good clonk usually when pulling away or changing gears, especially as you said the prop has to pick up a lot of slack before turning the rear wheels.

If you chock the wheels and put the hand brake on, jack up one wheel and see how much slack you can feel, but to be honest, you will feel a lot more than you are used to in any other car.

Shame you are so far up or I'd have popped over to help you look over it.

Closest 4x4 by you.
From the dog pub, up gorcott hill to m42, 3rd turn earlswood. Go to end of road/t junction turn left about 300 yards on right 4w motors.
Take the following
Box of teabags
Bag of sugar
They may put your mind at rest.
They sometimes don't look the friendly bunch but tea/sugar helps ;)

One other ting to look at, whilst you are under there, is the A frame ball joint.
Mine gave a nice knock , fitted a new one and all is good.

Cheers
