Hi wondering if anyone can help with my problem. I've had occasion to have to turn very sharp right and uphill at low speed (on a camp site) After completing the turn a very loud Thump Thump can be heard and felt through the car as though a tyre had become deflated on each wheel rotation. I immediately checked the wheels and propshafts as best I could and all seems ok. After a few hundred yards the noise seems to go and all is fine. The noise can occasionally be replicated if powering up a very steep hill though fainter.
I had a Freelander years ago and had problems with the VCU and this noise sounds similar, though I don't think there is a VCU on the Range Rover. The vehicle is an 07 4.2 Supercharged model and other than this noise, runs perfectly, there is a little driveshaft hum at very high speed but at 120K miles this is to be expected I suppose. The noise is definitely at the rear on the nearside. Whether it has any bearing but the rear tyres are at the end of their life and will be replaced this afternoon. Any ideas much appreciated. Regards Ian
