I posted on Saturday about a loose front prop shaft and a "clutch clunk" that had got markedly worse... This evening had a big crunch as I was pulling away, and there's no transmission to the wheels - _unless_ I lock the diff.

1) ideas as to what has given up?
2) solution? and how much would the parts be?
3) how far can I realistically drive it with the diff lock on without doing more damage?

:(

It should be the X-fer box then.

Driving with the fella in diff lock on road will eventually result in damage to the prop shafts as they are stressed up more as they can't 'slip'.

Maybe rebuilding the transfer box is the cheaper way to go. ash croft transmission has ready recondition boxes for swaps.

hi, its not good to drive on diff-lock, you will make it wear out quickly, and the day you will get stuck in mud or loose surfaces, your diif-lock wont work effectively. hve a nice day.
