transfure box

now i have been looking to change the trensfure box on my defender from the 1.4 to a doscovery 1.2 ratio
question is it cheaper to change the gears or the box ??

usually cheaper and easier to get a second hand disco box ,normally i find people only ask for the gears to be changed on newish boxes ,suffix of box is critical as there are several options

yep i see that james as finding a good td5 transfur box is not cheap ie 100 to 150 i thought i might see if it was a good idea to change the gears i have looked at ashcroft strooth they were not sensibal with prices and also the disco td5 t/box had two dirivatives one had only low box and the other had low and dif lock think the latter was a d suffix ?

you need a 300tdi transfer box ,disco box has no speedo drive or provision ,also 300 style gears are imo stronger than the q box finer teeth,high low switch on t/box can be moved to the cab
