Transfer box on way out now... ?

Hello rangie lovers !

New problem to my pride out on the drive.
When taking up drive in 1st and a a little in 2nd i hear a clunking noise like something is skipping its been getting worse over the past week whilst towing and pulling off on hills. Iv read on the forum lots about the transfer box but am a little concerned it could be splines on the drive shaft or something, anybody had same problem ?

have you tried selecting low
and then pulling away

is the noise still there when in low?

ooo ill try then in about 20 mins when i go back out, if it does it in low what does that mean ?

Iv tried it in low box and it is exactly the same, any thoughts ?

Does it increase with speed? Bearings have been known to die on the transfer box.

Only if hard acceleration but when pulling off nicely its fine its just hard pulling off and pulling off with a load and does it slightly in second

Just for anybody having problems with theres..... i have now sorted this and it was the chain inside the transfer box it had stretched, got a second hand unit off ebay for £245 and got it fitted for £90....Good as new !

i was gonna suggest chain as i was reading this, but obviously you sorted it. mines a little stretched i think. gonna refurb the box(s) over the summer!

is it a hard / big job going inside the box ? and replacing the chain ? might practice on my old one !

A new chain only costs 70.00, a tube of silicone sealer, oil and a days work.........

then a :5bcheers2:...........

100.00 approx all in.....
