hi can anyone help me , sometimes when i come off the throtle i hear a sort of metal rubbing noise i know the front prop was broken when i bought it and was running in rear wheel drive until a few months later when the uni joint failed on rear prop so i then fitted 2 props and since have been getting this noise:confused:

help please
cheers mick

sorry i dont know what you mean can you explain in laymans terms im a bit green , and i meant to say its a 110 1988 2.5td thanks

often props come misaligned ,gives noise and shorter prop life, could also be diff nose bearing the one nearest diff flange ,

yeah i think it dose sound like a bearing or shaft ,do you think it could be the front output shaft on the tranny box when the old owner broke front prop ???

hey james, looked at those flanges and the front drive flange on tranny the mudsheild at the back of it is protruding out bout 5mm at 1 side and 3mm at opposite do you think that could be a tell tail sign? and i never took the drum off to check the flange in there but i get a feeling its the front though.
also do you know what side the spline end of the prop goes too? at the moment front spline end at diff and the rear spline end is at the drum.
rem the old front shaft broke and i don't know how much or what damage may have been done.

slide doesnt really matter, but normally slide at diff end on front hand brake end on rear, try running with front prop off ,mud shields can come loose ,is bearing behind flange feel smooth ,check yoke alignment on shaft

hey james,
not had time to take front prop off yet but ordered some copper washers too do tranny/ gear box oil change im bit baffled bout diff though is there only a fill plug and if so how do you get old oil out?
