good evening, i have just read in a magazine that it is possible to put a transfer box input gear from a discovery gearbox into my lt77 box. apparantly it reduces noise and increases fuel economy on motorway runs, is this right? if so how is it done because i have a spare discovery box in the garage that has done hardly any miles,

a mate of mine reckons that its that round plate on the back of the tramsfer box, and the whole lot comes out? is this right?

im relying on you lot to set things right in this subject!

thanks

chris

I think you will have to replace more than one gear, but it will be worth it for the higher gearing BUT, remember, all gears will be higher, first included.

think that there are 3 gears to replace in the t-box.

if you can DIY then it will be ok, or the labour cost will be high as they might have to remove both the t-box and the main gear box (although some have said the t-box can be dropped without the main gear box).

and if you're going to drop both the boxes, might as well look at that clutch plate and change it as well.
