hi
did mine not to long ago, remember to put a trolley jack under transfer box when removing it as its very heavy, you will also have to support the gear box on another jack as you will need to lower it slightly to gain access to the bolts that hold the transfer box in place

1. yes the transfer box will unbolt from gearbox
2. yes you can leave gearbox in place
3. thats how i did mine, i used 4 car ramps

nice one, that's a yes then, did you change t/box complete or do the chain and wot sort of money did it cost for parts thanks pj

If you want a second opinion, PM Andy0352...he's not long had his out....upset the neighbours apparently!!! (Didn't know it was so big!!-had a stuggle to lift it)

i changed the tranferbox out for another one as the case was leaking oil turned out to be cracked, i did open it up for a look inside and all looked well enough so i now have spare transfer box innards

i didn,t remove the transfer box i just removed the front cover that holds the vcu,but i still had to remove the crossmember, with a big hammer and reinstall it with a big hammer at 11.00 at night,it went down well with the neighbours

if i keep useing it will i lose drive or will it go on a bit, i think its the chain? thanks for the replys.

if its the chain it will have stretched so someday it will go out with a bang then NO DRIVE, a new chain is £100 from e-bay but i am not sure about replacing the chain with the transfer box in place, i reckon you might still have to remove it first perhaps someone else can help
