Hi guys, haven't been on here for a while due to vehicles behaving themselves and other things.
But...,
Brought a 2008 range rover back in March, TDV8 bit of a punt really, but its been as good as gold until I get a call from the missus Friday morning saying that the car has gone into limp mode and the error message of "Transmission fault limited gears only" she limps it home and parks it up,.
So I come home friday afternoon and take it to my mate garage ,rangie runs fine even in manual selects all gears , he does a code read (generic) see attached
We also done a battery test as I know these are sensitive to poor voltages.
Also attached
I took it to work yesterday about 40 miles and it doesn't miss a beat.
Missus gets in it tonight, starts it up and within seconds the "trans fault" message comes up again, but then goes out. She drives about 10 miles and alls fine,

Any ideas guys ,

First rule....battery -it seems to struggle during cranking.....the dip in voltage will cause spurious ECU errors.

As recommended charge and retest, but I would suggest it is a dying battery causing the issue.

If after a charge the crank voltage improves and yet you still get the warnings.....check fluid level and condition first.

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.
I will get a new battery anyway just in case (I did this with the discovery 2 and its been great)
I belive it's a 110ah,is that correct?
I will also get the gearbox flushed and new oil filter just on case

Many thanks

Not sure on the specs for a 2007, but get the biggest capacity that will physically fit in the tray!

Gooooooooooooooooooooooogle is your friend on this one.

I'm with SV8 on the battery. Battery Megastore do good deals and I can recommend Hankook from experience, certainly go for the biggest battery that will fit.

If you have/know someone with a Halfords Trade card worth a look at their premium batteries & the discount is substantial.

So finally got around to fit the new battery today, omfg what a bloody disaster,
The positive clamp is absolutely f***ed, so won't tighten Down over the post, so I'm screwed at the moment.
So what are my options,
I was thinking about getting a standard clamp from Halford and making a 2mm steel plate bridge between the new clamp and the old one, thus leaving that blackbox alone (I belive it's some sort of pyrotechnics)
Or could I get a "two way clamp" from Halfords, cut the red pyrotechnics cable leaving me with exposed wires, throw the pyrotechnics in the "bin". and fit it directly to the clamp, and then bolt the black positive cable to the clamp as well, like a more traditional install I guess

Need some help quick pls guys

Many thanks

Not sure you can bin the pyrotechnics without the electronics throwing a hissy fit.

If you use brass or copper you will get better contact. maybe in a rubber sleeve (innertube) .It will keep you mobile I think.

Guys thanks for your help , I went to Halfords this morning and brought a new clamp the used a bit of 3 mm thk metal to join the two clamp together, it's a temp /semi permanent fix I think
