Hey guys,

What do you think of upgrading the auto box cooler to something like this:

or should I stick with:

Unless there is another less drastic upgrade? And perhaps sticking it on the front of the rad?

It's for the TD6 GM5L40 box.

My personal view is that there’s nothing wrong with the cooling capacity of the transmission cooling system as it was designed, the problem is that the engine radiator and transmission oil cooler become less efficient over time due to internal corrosion, furring up, etc.

I would spend the money on keeping the existing system in tip-top condition rather than buying additional bolt-on solutions.

Just my opinion, obviously.

Phil

I think this was something I rather hear. The original system looks okay with the big plastic tube directing the air straight from the grill at the gearbox cooler. Now I am thinking using a cooler like that most likely would be lower quality and possibly could introduce another bunch of problems. Thanks Phil.
