Do i need a special kit or can the wires be scotchlocked to the original wiring loom?

use the correct plug in loom

plus 1 what mhm said in getting the correct plug in harness , will save u a lot of time

plus don't forget to replace the flasher relay with a heavy duty one , located on the drivers side fuse box

There's a time and place for "Scotchblocks" and permanent wiring isn't one of them.
