You can take them into a dealer and get a plate put on. Lots of people do it to downrate horse trailers so they dont have to take a test. Dammed stupid but there you go.

I assume if it has never had one they go off the weight the axles are rated to (they also have a plate) and whether its braked.

Dont know which ones do it though.

You can tow a twin axle trailer on a B licence with no training

Plenty do this legally with single twin axle horse trailers

Home made trailers or those without plates where the manufacturer has gone out of business will have the total of the tyre load ratings used for the MAM up to a max of 3500

Home made plates are not legal
