While I am towing my trailer all the lights work correctly, except the light on the dash that should flash when the indicators are on. Has any body got a wiring diagram for 1986 defender 90. They could e-mail me rather than the crap that is in the Haines manual.

if its owt like mine, lamp in the dash had been removed cos of a dodgy relay, new lamp and relay and away it goes, its only connected to the 4th pin on the relay.

Think some of the problems come when people fit the new transistor relay instead of the older mec one. This brings on the two lights at once. Have been doing a search to find the diagram but can't find it right now.

when you say brings the 2 lights on at once...
The correct way of it operating AFAIK is the trailer light should flash once is no trailer connected (or trailer lamp is out) or should flash in tandem with the indicator light if connected properly.
Do you have standard lights, or have they been changed for LED?

Thanks guys there are several questions to answer here

The light on the dash works as some times it flashes with the indicators when there is no trailer.

Trailer lights are all LED

Thanks for you inputs that will give me something play with this weekend

A poor earth on any indicator lamp, trailer or landy will result in dash indicator lamp flashing only once. LEDs may not have enough load to activate trailer indicator.

I'd second that.
try it with a normal trailer, see if its ok.
if so, get some load resistors for the trailer
