hi all

i had to cut the plug off in boot behind the cover ,wired it all up , is there anything else have to do/change for it to work????

maybe a relay or something?

cheers
griff

Could get one from a good accessory shop and it fits in the fuse box in the car under the steering wheel to find which relay put hazards on and you will hear it clicking if you touch the relays gently with your finger you will also feel it

right ive found a 4 pin relay for it should be here soon

but looks like ive some how wired the plug up wrong aaaaahhhh

took it to my mot place today and asked them to test it ,theres power there but if say i press the brake pedal the test unit says the ind is on ,so def messed the wiring up

hand to cut the plug off and solder the wirers together but seems i did it wrong :-(

can some one please tell me which wires(colours) do which on the freelander loom ,or a diagram lol as im silly

cheers

Hi Griff...here are the wire colours for the rear lights, which should be present on the cars wiring harness/trailer socket connector..which you have removed.

R.H. & L.H. Brake lights-Green with Purple stripe
L.H. Tail lamp-Red with Black stripe
R.H. Tail & Number plate lamp-Red with Orange stripe
L.H. Indicator-Green with Red stripe
R.H. Indicator-Green with White stripe
L.H. & R.H. Rear Fog lights-Red with Yellow stripe
L.H. & R.H. Reversing lights-Green

Ground-Black *
*This can be taken from the stud attached to the body, where the Earthing Header is attached.

You did the right thing using soldered joints, far better than the crappy Scotchlock connectors which are sometimes supplied with a generic trailer wiring kit.
:)
