Having purchased my first Freelander yesterday. I had driven it about 10miles went the Traction control & Hill descent amber lights came on. I stopped turned the ignition off and on and they went out. After another 5 miles or so they came back on. I turned the ignition off and on and they went out again. Also the hill descent does not seem to be working. As this is my first Landrover I am really disappointed and would appreciate some help from you guys. It's a 2004 Freelander 2.0 Sport if it helps.

Thanks :)

Go introduce yourself in the correct section before other grill you

You need to find out what the codes are for the abs so you can repair the fault

Hi
Just had the same problem with mine.
I just replaced the brake light switch that is on the pedal and that cured it.
Just make sure you get the right switch cos there's two of them only cost about £15.

Thanks for the help guys. I’ve just been reading about the brake light switch. It defiantly seems to be at fault. I've called the garage where i bought it. It's under warranty so gonna take it back tomorrow hopefully the rectify the problem. Then looking foreword to sum happy motoring. :):)

Yes all the lights come on for a second. I've sorted the hill descent. Just looked under the gear lever gator and it was'nt even plugged in. I've pluuged it in and the green light is now working. Only problem now is the amber Traction control and Hill descent lights coming on intermittently while driving.

If the TC is like most other cars, then its uses the ABS sensors for wheel speed readings. Check all the sensors and in correctly.

On an Audi S4 I had once, there was corrosion on the ABS ring which caused the ABS to kick in randomly. Possibly the same here?

The two lights you're having can be caused by a poorly adjusted brake light switch.

You'll probably find they come on when braking lightly - that wasy experience anyway

New brake light switch will solve it

Thanks for you help. It seems the brake light switch may be at fault. So armed with the knowledge i've got from this forum i'm off back to the dealer i bought it off to get him to have a look. It's still under warranty as i only bought it on Saturday!
