Hi new here (see my intro) can any put my mind at ease as been looking through and cant find an answer. A 2000 2.5 DHSE, on start up in the morning my traction control light takes 25 secs before it goes out (have timed it for a week now) car drives Ok and no problems with brakes (probably wrong thing to say). Is this normal or should I be checking anything. ABS goes out on driving and no lights even on long run
Cheers John

Can take up to 40 seconds to go out as ABS pump pressurises system. Don't drive off until it has gone out. How many applications of brakes before pump restarts?

Never driven off until it has gone out. Please bear with me on this @wammers what am I looking for or listening for when pressing brake peddle . Thanks for the reply as have been told you are the one to listen to and will certainly do so.

What you are listening for is the ABS pump restarting. Wait for pump to stop then press brake pedal and count how many applications before pump re starts.

Just been out to try had the good lady listening as well and to be honest we couldn't hear anything after 15 presses. Pedal rock solid even after 20 presses.

Ok. If pump starts up after just a few presses (3 or 4) then your accumulator is suspect. Yours sounds to be fine. 25 seconds is well within the 40 seconds Land rover say it can take if the car is left stood a while.

Many thanks @wammers you have my warmest thanks. When it comes to brakes peace of mind is a must.
If we ever meet up just name your poison, on the house

TC lamp goes out when minimum brake pressure is achieved and the car is safe to drive. Pump will however continue to run until shutoff pressure is achieved then stop.
