Disco 2 Traction Control Light and Drrrrrrrr Sound When Maneuvering!!

Right, now I have your attention with a silly thread title, let me explain won't you!

Sometimes, just now and then, when I'm maneuvering, say in a car park to get in or out of a parking space, the TC light will come on and there is a short 'Drrrrrrrrrrr' sound from the brake servo unit in the engine bay bulk-head in front of the steering wheel area.

I also get the 'Drrrrrrrrrr' sound from the brake servo unit for about a second when I fire the old girl up in the mornings.

Any ideas?

Yip - You're phone is ringing

If your still on rear air suspension the morning Drrrrrrrrr could be the rear air bags inflating which is normal but you wouldn't get the traction control light on with that

If you have ever used anti lock brakes on an icy surface they make a Drrrrrrrr kind of sound do you think they might be activating?

If you're turning in a tight circle I'd say that TC is activating 'cos of the different relative wheel speeds, inner wheel turning much slower than outer, TC thinks it's slipping. My Renault Laguna with TC used to do exactly the same in car parks.

This does seem to be the case, i,e manouvering in a tight area. Like I said, it doesn't happen on a regular basis, just now and then.

Now, this Drrrrrrrrrrrrrr ( I don't know how to describe it) It's not the air bags, It's not the ABS, It definitely comes from the brake servo unit area. Brakes seem fine.......pfwaa, I don't know. Can you post sound clips on here?

I would of said the ABS mod too, mine did it while manoeuvring when the hub was on the way out. Have you de-EGR'd? Mine was making something that might be described as drrrrrrr after I did mine (could feel it on the brake pedal too). Turned out to be the valve modulators so I disconnected the lot and capped the T piece on the vac pipe.

That's perfectly normal cos when the TC kicks in the warning is supposed to show you that and the inlet and outlet sooenoid valves are working within the ABS modulator that's how brakes are applied on the faster spinning wheel, TC can be a bit more sensitive if the tyre pressures are not all even and as in the book, the tyres are not evenly worn or not standard dimensions, it depends on the surface's adherence too, etc but as you described the symptom it's quite normal behaviour, that's how it should work

My TC did the same but found I had a slow puncture, stopped when it was fixed.
