Traction control button on recent Defenders?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a late model Defender and have noticed that some (I drove a 2014) have what looks to be a traction control on/off button at the top left of the dash.

Does anyone know for sure what that does, which particular models / years / options it was equipped on and if it is an important option?

The main change occurred in 2012 when the 2.2 replaced the 2.4tdci.
Any detail or specification differences will be dependent on whether it is a 2.2 or a 2.4

Yep. But I have seen post 2012 Defenders with and without that button so curious what it is.

The traction control switch became a standard fitment on 2015 Defenders - my 2014 (now sold) Defender had traction control but the switch was not fitted. Lots about traction control on the web but essentially it limits the ability for an individual wheel to spin whilst under power on loose or slippery surfaces by applying the brake to the affected wheel through the ABS system. I've not tried it personally, but I was told if you really were stuck in mud etc. and you have tried everything else, switch traction control off and it may help.

It's my understanding that if that button is there, it has ESP. Traction control and ABS started, as mentioned above, in 2012 but there wasn't a button to turn it off. You will find many 64 plate and newer will have ESP. My 14 plate doesn't. Hope this helps.
