Prob a bit of a daft question as i am pretty sure i know the answer.Am going to replace bushes on front radius arm tomorrow so spent an hour today freeing nuts off ready.Came to free track rod end nut so as to make job easier. The nut moved with the ends thread.I take it i need a new track rod end as its busted ?

Maybe not, the taper on the track rod end should always be a tight fit in the steering arm and stop the track rod end turning hence allow the nut to be removed. In your case as it loose you will need to clamp the track rod end into the steering arm taper before you undo the nut, to stop it turning.

The threaded part does spin in a track rod end normally otherwise your steering won't work.

The worst case is that the track rod end has been loose a while and messed up the taper in the steering arm.

Looking on the bright side at least it looks like you will be able to get the track rod end off even with a top quality special cracker tool they can be right difficult if the taper gets any corrosion in it.

I'm about to change the bushes on the radius arms also, is it possible to remove the arm without touching the track rod end?

no ,undo nut on t/rod and hit end of arm till joint pops out ,you only need to undo one end as it will move out of the way for the other ,radius arm wont fit back easy unless as level as possible so jack neede for axle and chassis
