Help.
Need to fit a new offside track rod end to a 1995 300tdi Discovery.
Been online to order one and!!!....do I need LH thread or RH thread.
Would like to get ordered tonight, so is there anyone out there who can please advise me.
If not will have to ring supplier in the morning.
 
just changed both sides of the track rod. both turned out to be rh thread. mine is a disco 1 300tdi 96. new ones came with greese nipples. phone paddock spares.

Hello to all.

I just changed both trailing arm track-rod ends on my 300tdi Disco and I went down to Landrover and got a pair off the shelf, they gave me a RH and LH thread, when I removed them both I found they were BOTH RH thread, so back down to LANDROVER and exchanged one, Bl00dy landrovers, lol

I asked why they were listed as LH and RH and they said it depended on what the production lads felt like on the day, lol. (Typical)

Anyway they said there workshop manual does state LH and RH, but they said mostly common to have both RH thread ;-)

So if I was you just get 2 RH threads. Hope that helps.

Also just changed the steering damper last month it was a little sh*gged, as you will see from the below photo :-(

Now in the process of replacing the clutch, which decided to start slipping yesterday at 137,000 miles, also exhaust dropped off on Sunday :-(

mr grunt, sir, there are some things in this world that are just to deep and profond for meer mortals to understand, such as are we really likey to be hit by a meteor within the next 15 years, or who built the pyramids and did atlantis really exsist.
these things along with how to adjust tracking with TRE's that have the same fred on each end of the track rod are best left to the professionals and gifted hammer chewers that understand and can cope mentality with the differing challenges each bring.
 
Mebbeee right, you don't adjust yer tracking but at least you can adjust yer steering wheel position without removing it. I like the meteor an stuff one, it makes me feel all warm an cosey knowing that I don't have to know about track rod ends an stuff, an that them wot have risen above mere mortality are looking after it.
 
The drivers side trackrod end is screwed into an 8" coupler bar which is joined to the trailing arm this is the adjustment for the tracking.
The steering allignment is achieved by adjusting the front steering bar which uses a R/H and L/H thread on the track rod ends.

A good idea (doesn't it date from the first Range Rovers?) as it means all the track rod ends on the vehicle are RH thread, makes life a lot simpler.

worrabout the one on the thingie arm on the front, an even if they were its as easy to cut a LH thread as it is a RH thread so no one would be saving any money, an production costs would probly be higher cos there's more bits to fasten together.
