trace registration from engine number???

hi
does anybody know how i can find a registration from just the engine number?? i had a 200tdi put in but dont have any proof of reciept as lost it ;-(, and i want to sell the landy but need to change log book eng num but they wont if cant prove engine not stolen etc... any ideas how i can resolve this.

What the dvla wont change the engine number?
I think if you get a local garage to check it over to make sure its secure/fitted okay and they can see the engine number you should be fine.

Hi, Unless you know a very friendly police officer/ police employee, the only way to obtain reg number from an engine number is if you have the original chassis number from the vehicle which the engine was fitted to.

DVLA don't have the facility to do this. Not sure these days if landrover could/would find you an original build sheet for the engine which would give the chassis number. From that even the DVLA can find a reg number but, if they would be willing to is a different matter.
