If you have learnt to drive on a major , then a defender is easy. The major don't have a syncromesh gear box, so you have to time the changes properly. Same thing between low and high range on the defender. If you need practise to do this I would advice you to do it with out a trailer first. Thats obvious I suppose, but that is what you have got an old school go anywhere machine that needs a driver who understands how to get the most out of it.
