Afternoon all,

Just got handed a tow bar and want to put it onto my "95 Disco. Naturally the holes all line up (some standard size I guess) but the ball clashes with the rear bumper plastic.

I was going to get a spacer cut at work and then just bolt it on!

Is this right or is it more technical than this like bolt sizes etc?

Cheers H

I have no idea why your tow ball is clashing with the plastic trim, or why you'd need a spacer. Maybe the towbar is for another model, not a 1995 Disco?

Ha well bit difficult to bring the landy into the office.

Only question really, is do I just bolt it on or do u needed rated bolts etc?

If you think about the loads the bolts will be subjected to, you ought to be using the best available, imo. Go to a trailer/caravan place, they will be able to help you.

The problem is that once the towbar is on the back, everyone is going to think the assembly must be ok up to the max towing limit of 3500kgs, they won't know if you install dodgy bolts. Towing horse trailers and live animals can be a real strain. Do it once - do it right.

Cheers

Ermm summats wrong init cos yours 'clashes' no one elses duz thats why i asked fer a pic cos summats a miss

Cheers for the advice all. Guessing it's not a proper landy towbar (otherwise it would fit no probs) so I've had the spacers cut and it's worked fine now. As for the bolts, go the strongest, thickest I could. Pulled another Disco 2 at the weekend and no bending etc so all good.

Cheers all again, Henry
