Expensive? dunno, didn't look at the prices much, just saw one at £30 which seemed OK! LR stuff is never cheap and if it is it's usually cr@p!...

I did and i assumed that was the inner part of the female socket attached to the back of the car. If it isn't, what is it?
I only know of two parts, female socket on car and male plug on trailer.
If you type in what i suggested you get plugs, sockets, double sockets, plugs with cable already connected, plastic, metal, black, white, adapters, covers. Really...

What he is looking for is is the connection to the main loom on the car, which then goes down as trailer cable to the female connection at the tow bar, into which he can plug the 7 pin plug for the trailer or the caravan.

I expect if its the plug only that’s required then there will be a need to search the automotive electrical part suppliers, or Farnells, RS, but the easy option is to just purchase the plug with the extension harness attached, then it just a small matter of connecting the harness to the 7 pin trailer socket, which I believe has screw terminations.

I've just spent a while trying to find summat on line to tell me how the wires to the trailer plug are connected to the main loom and it appears there is a plug of some sort which connects at the back of the rear lights. Similar to the plug for the D2. But it was surprisingly difficult to find ont net!
Land Rover part number ANR3896 as mentioned before. One document I found showed it being plugged in to the rear of the offside light panel.

Well well well. You learn something new each day!
Land Rover seem to have things sorted! Whenever i've fitted a towbar and electrics it's been a case of cut here/splice there. I've never seen a manufacturer fitted loom connection before.
