Tough start to the land rover world

Sorry - just seen I've been tagged in this post... I'm away working a LOT at the moment and don't even have reliable phone signal in one of the places I'm spending most of my week - yet alone internet!!

As others have mentioned - Door latch... It looks like @DanClarke has you on the right track with the wire colours...
As mentioned aswell...
Black is the ground for all 3 microswitches
Blue is the Door Ajar Switch - and grounded when the door is open - which is why connecting that to Black will set the alarm off
Red is Central Locking Switch. No connection = Door locked. Connection to Black = Door Unlocked
White is the Key Switch. No connection = key central in the lock. Connection to Black = Key turned to EITHER lock or UNLOCK (BECM Figures out which one it is by the status of the Central Locking Switch).

Sounds like you are on the right track - hopefully jumping the wires will let you get the EKA entered, and then you can test the latch with a multimeter to see which switch has failed and caused the headache to start with!

I'll try and get back on here a bit more this week... but I'm back to having little signal again, so will see how I get on with that one!

If battery keeps flattening then search for RF receiver and battery drain.

@ADCO Yep, flat battery common issue on P38's with lots of RF interference. Pull the aerial wire off the RF unit to give it a fighting chance. The original LR receiver is crap and they sell an updated one for about £300.
I fixed mine permanently by buying an RF filter unit. You can get them from @martyuk on here or on e-bay e.g. here.

You can see all about the problem (and the fix) here.....

Don't despair, once you have all these silly problems fixed you will love the car.

Might be worth checking to see if the carpet and under felt in the drivers footwell is wet.

@mozz smith seems to have great results getting these going.
He's talked many owners through things on the phone with great results.
I've tagged him so hopefully he'll be along soon with some input.

Tis what mine did before it went haywire.

Check for water around the Becm.

If all else fails remove the BECM and send it to Marty.

He had mine done in under a week. Incredible service.
My EKA has been turned off and it's great to jump in and know it's gonna start ;)

Best check @martyuk is around first. He's been working away a lot recently. Don't you avoid income tax if you are abroad over 6 months? I reckon he is due a big rebate!

Got my eye on a 4.6 near Swindon ...

Most of my work over the last few months has been actually in the UK... and the RR has been pounding the motorways this month - over 1000 miles since the middle of October!

Also sadly, even when I'm abroad, I'm still working for UK companies/being paid in the UK in GBP - so no escaping the somewhat hefty tax bill at the end of the year!

Regarding BECM stuff though... I am in the UK until about the 16th November as it stands, and I'm hoping to have a couple of days off at home before I go away - so if that helps @ADCO then drop me a PM and we can work something out. I'll know more in the next week if I will actually get a couple of days at home or not - I'm prepping a tour which has to load in a shipping container for the US on the 15th - but hoping I get everything I need to done before then, so I can leave the loading to someone else, as it will be nearly 5 weeks straight without a day off by that point!!
