Hi Folks.
Can i have some advise please, i unfortunately own a K series 1.8 5 door Freelander on an 02.today having gone through heavy flooding there was a loud metallic noise coming from underneath, on limping it home and jacking it i noticed a round metal cover floating about between the front and rear prop.on looking in the manual it was the torsional damper cover that had come off, i realigned it and gave it a clout with the Birmingham screwdriver, what would cause this to come off, i noticed that some of the rubber type splines were a little damaged, is this a costly job, also if the prop etc has to come off would i benefit from renewing propshaft joints etc

many thanks

Many thanks for this,if i just replace the damper is there any need to replace the VCU,the heap has done 66,000 miles, also is it worth considering replacing the UJ`S on the propshaft at the same time? where the damper has come apart i have managed to cable tie the broken bit out the way, will i cause further damage in the short term to any other parts
The independent dealer(worthingtons in Tring) suggests i just get a complete 2nd hand prop, what would you do. I intend getting rid asap
many thanks
Andy
