A very basic question (I hope) is there a "best" torque wrench spec for working on a Defender 110 (04 model). Any advice on what and best place to buy would be welcome. Cheers.

haynes manual?

I think if I understand corectly he is actually asking for a good torque wrench spec. The tool right ?
If that is the questions I purchase this model on ebay : STANLEY PROTO J6113NMF DIAL TORQUE WRENCH 0-70nM and it is working just fine for me. And I have another one that only clic and can do up to 200 nM.

i bought one from Lidl for 17quid........ they've still got them for sale down here...
....does it really make much difference (unless you are using it (professionally) all of the time)?

er..... nope

depending on the use your hoping to have from it , i have a few britool a MAC tools and a snapon,

yer can pick these up (used)fer around £50 on ebay but expect to pay well over £200 on a tool van etc,

thers a few £50 ones in machine mart that will do the trick, but ****ed if i would use anythin that cost under £20

Agree with above, i'd buy a Snap-On if needed a decent one

half the time people just dunt kno how to use them either , so even a good clicker wrench will be no use if yer dunt kno what end to use,

when i click a head up , i usualy use two or three stages, say its at 90, torque them all at 30 then 60 then 90, to get even pressure working out from the middle to avoid warping the head, same with crank bearings, the rest ( wheel nuts at a push :D), a lower quality wrench would do i spose its better than nawt

new snapon tools are pants, they don't make um like they used to - britool for me

yer int wrong , i spend more time swaping mine than using them, they have started making them too posh looking, more like furniture than tools .

some of me dads old snapon is still good kit, but i do likes me britool, ( or now its called facom)

the old king dick were good stuff too,

i've got a pile of very old, but perfect KD tools from my father in law from his days as bus mechanic - they'll last a few more life times yet

Aye, Both Britool :) Any idea how much? Worth putting on the house insurance? :D

not quite :D

then again, all my kits valued at £90k  thers mine, me dads, his dads and a lot we accuired from farm sales etc, cant ****in move fer stuff now,
two garages stacked full, a yard full, my workshop / units full and a ruck in the house !

its right what they say, yer can have too much stuff

as fer yer wrenches they would fetch £80. but are £195 to buy new, each !

Aye, I got all my Dads and Grandads tools up the shed - ****ing loads of stuff! Can't move for it, I need a big workshop :(... I got loads of tools in my bedroom and kitchen aswell  No where near as much as you though.... yet ;)

Found a ARC welder the other day... Apparently (I ain't even attempted to use it) it is from the 70's and will blow a ****ing hole in anything! :D Tis quite small though. :p

I can spend an hour up the shed and find tools i never knew we had
