OK, I admit it was an impulse purchase, and the "Boy's-Toy" gene got the better of me.

It's a very, very, basic smelly, dirty, rattly and extremely hard work ride compared to the Rangie.....but so much more "FUN" - albeit also very slow.

I think perhaps the Lord made the Defender 90 to teach man the meaning of patience.:D

Any idea what the flat-road top speed and MPG should be for it with the 200tdi engine (without flogging the gonads off it)?

One thing I can't quite work out is why she sits slightly down on one side(Fuel-Tank?).

It's an F Reg on Coil Springs and shocks and I can't see anything obvious that would cause this slight listing over.

Regards,

Dan.

top speed is 70mph in the UK :D

it probably tilts to one side due to correct springs, like you say fuel tank battery and driver all on one side.

New springs are handed to componsate for this

I personly don't like driving mine 70mph it's got the aerodynamics of a house brick and at that speed takes a while to slow down. As for MPG, round about 25 but depends how you drive it, whether there is a roof rack, tyre pressures, brakes grabbing etcetera. LEE

I always thought it was two house-bricks in mating formation ;-)

I think 50-55 will do me nicely as with the big-boots on it seems to want to follow every rut/dip/depression in the road; the "top-speed" was a rhetorical question as I think that a bit like original VW beetles all day every day at 50-55 is no problem; 70mph = big problems.

Thanks for the replies.

If your landy is following ruts in the road you've got some play in your steering or suspension components or some knackered bushes somewhere. It shouldn't do that. With a disco transfer box 65 ish is a comfortable cruising speed and you should be able to manage 90 odd if you're in a hurry. Why would 70mph = big problems?

For every day driving, id say 50-55 is comfortable but i do have a bit of play in the steering so on tight roads much more would be daft, although for motorways/dual carrigeways i'd stick to 60-65 ish

Bloody hell I do that in the TD90. Shakes a bit though & the worn swivel pins don't help.

The 70 = Big problems was related to the VW not the LR.
Too much 70MPH cruising always cracked the Cylinder heads on my beetles :(

The garage always declared it was never intended to be used that hard.

Hey-ho.

Thanks for the replies.
