Guys,

Trying to work out where my '99 4.6HSE P38 is putting all this water. The oil is clean, and no bubbles in the water bottle. She reeks of coolant at the end of a run, so I am thinking a leak, but I am buggered if I can see it.

I want to try and eliminate a head problem, so will check all the plugs tomorrow and see if any one of them is off-colour.

The top hose is very firm. It's not rock hard, you can compress is with your thumb and forefinger, but it is pretty stiff. Anyone give me some clue of how the top hose should feel? How hard is it if there's a gasket problem pressurising the cooling system, versus normal?

Cheers
Jock

look around the engine for traces of dry water/coolant. usually a white scale! damp carpets in foot wells! also if lpg i would be looking closely at its plumbing!

Hi.

As mentioned above the pipes used on my lpg were plastic and went out of shape, causing them to leak.

Yes it should appear on the floor but when mine went it seemed to just weep a little and allow air in causing all sorts of water related shinanigans and somehow allways the carpet seemed to be dry.....then it started being a little sticky, presumably from the antifreeze and then it went everywhere.

Cheers, Nick.
