Hi, can anyone help.
I have just replaced my TD5 Turbo with a second hand one, all seemed fine but on boost there is a strange noise coming from somewhere, I have washed my intercooler out as the old blades went somewhere!!!
The Turbo spins up on low pressure, but as soon as you ask for any power it makes this strange almost electrical noise.

what do you mean by electrical noise? crackling? buzzing? ticking? squealing?

Is it a whistle/buzzing noise? It could be that there is pressure leaking around the turbo and manifold. Perhaps this is just the way the tubo went on again, or one of the studs has come away at the head for some reason.

T4 will show the manifold pressure on live data, so this would give you an idea of if there was a pressure leak around this area.

Yes its a whistle and a buzzing noise and its quite loud, abit like an high pitch electric pump... can you run the engine without the intercooler, I would like to isolate the noise, but I dont want to wreck anything els!!!

Yes, I guess you can remove the hoses briefly.

Is the noise present when you are stood still and you increase the engine RPM.

Fixed it thank you. It was the unit that goes on the end of the inlet manifold, it was simply loose, I had taken it off and cleaned it and not tightened it up, the noise was turbo boost reeding past the metal gasket, funny noise. Its running great now
Thank you for your interest, my only other problem is my handbrake adjuster is loose and rattleing and I havent a clue how to adjust it up and get rid of the rattle, any ideas would be welcome... thanks again.
