Did an SWR on my rig only to find that on ch1 it's about 1.5 but ch40 is greater than 2 (now need to find out what to do about it!!!)

The lower the channel on a CB has a shorter the frequency and therefore needs a longer the aerial for a 1 wave antenna.

So if you have a low SWR on channel 1 and higher on 40 then the aerial is balanced towards a shorter frequency, or needing a longer antenna.

With your SWR if you shorten the aerial a bit by adjusting it the SWR will be more even in the middle channels where you probably want it to be, this will give you better balance across the channels.

You must have a short one though for it to be this big an issue :)

It's a mini springer on a mag mount
Will have to see if I can find a small Allen key to fit the grub screw!..... Any idea how much adjustment you normally get?

Would it be an idea to try for best SWR around ch20.... Thinking that's mid band so should even out across full range?

Undo the grub screw and move up or down a fraction.litterally a fag paper at a time then redo swr on 1 20 n 40 till u get desired reading

well that went a bit bollocks.... now am at about 2 on ch1 and 40... guess being a non smoker means i dont know how thick a fag paper is!!.... try again when dried off a little!!!
