Quick update...car back from garage. They did nothing in the end...long story. Grinding/bearing noise still there. (Grrrr) Garage thinks ird but said when he listened with a stethoscope he wasn't convinced? He didn't want me to spend £600 and noise still be there (charged me zero for trying to diagnose ) he has checked wheel bearings by listening with the steth too. All good. He said there are about 5/6 sets of bearings in the ird and he thinks its one of those that's gone. The noise is at its worse when at 50/60mph you can 'feel' something is rough if you push the gearstick against the gate (manual). So still in mondo, (Vcu is def fooked ) and still noisy. Oh and the battery died...long story ,new battery inbound from carparts4less.

Just to top things off dishwasher blew up this afternoon. FFS. Think I need a drink.
