I have a 2000 x reg td4 3 door done 108000 miles body work is good but as iam not a mechanic and don't pretend to be although I do like to learn yes at my age, this is my 2nd fl 1st one was a 2003 se premium and it only had 450000 on the clock I know I should never have sold it regret regret.
I would like to keep it few years so iam thinking of getting it to a landrover garage to check it over and see if its worth it as I don't whant to keep spending out on it as it is 13 years old.
on the last mot it hadit had 3 advisorys slight misting of oil to rear diff and rear diff bushes in pour condition 2 tyres which have been replaced.
Do you think getting these and a full service done is good idea or a waste of time and money cheers...

Hi , try and find a garage you can trust to check it over , tyres should be changed in fours , same make/model/size , make sure the crankcase breather filter is changed , plenty of info on here on what to look out for :)

I strongly endorse this advice about the tyres. A dealer put new tyres on the front of my 2001 F1 and it cost me a new IRD (aka transfer box). This is due to the rear wheels rotating faster than the front causing the viscous coupling to lock up. The viscous coupling is intended to allow a small, intermittent difference in speed between front and rear wheels as when cornering, not a continuous speed difference. This is aggravated by the fact that the silicone gel in the VC stiffens with age and at about 10 years old is almost solid, so there is no effective centre differential. A new VC costs about £300 if you shop around, less than half the price of new IRD.

Your asking us!!! if your love your Freelander keep it, if you dont sell it to someone who will.... plenty of us have older ones than you bud.

mine is also 13yrs old, and I've only had it a couple of months, I took mine straight to a recommended garage for a £40 check over, the results were not as bad as I expected, 2 tyres needed, anti-roll bar links, rear diff bushes and a couple of other minor faults, I was ready to get them to do the work, but was told theres no rush, drive it, have fun, get used to it, well I'm doing just that and not worrying, I'll worry if and when it goes bang, have replaced the anti-roll links myself, can feel the difference, and have the diff bushes to do next
